Last week, AC/DC fans in Ontario received the sad but expected news that the September 16th show was unfortunately cancelled after a crazy storm caused extensive damage to Rogers Stadium. (One might say the venue was Thunderstruck sorry, I had to).
But not all is lost! Torontonians can still celebrate AC/DC at the PWR/Up Pop Up!
Today I woke up nice and early, put on one of my many AC/DC shirts, and made the trek down to Steamwhistle Brewery right in time for the opening. Strolling in I was handed a gift bag of goodies, which the first 500 fans through the door each day will receive for the excellent price of free. I then walked along the red carpet into the large room filled with all things AC/DC!
Of course, there is plenty of merchandise to shop. Lots of tour apparel, vinyl, pins, hats, bags, coffee mugs and even luggage! My carry on bag is pretty beaten, so I seriously eyed that luggage for a while; it's a unique merch item for sure.
Separating this from just a merch stand, are various displays and photo ops. A giant neon AC/DC sign which I absolutely loved, a singular Hells Bell, a stage worn Angus Young school outfit, and my absolute favourite: a cannon that was actually used at the famous Donington concert in 1991. That concert, or more specifically that live album, is what got 11 year old me into not only AC/DC but music in general, so snapping a photo with that cannon was pretty cool!
