Toronto was treated to a massive night of heavy metal on August 29 as Iron Maiden brought their Run For Your Lives World Tour to a packed Scotiabank Arena, with legendary thrash metal pioneers Megadeth opening the night.
For longtime metal fans, this was more than just another concert. It was a celebration of two bands whose music has helped define heavy metal for generations.
MEGADETH KICKS OFF THE NIGHT
Megadeth came out swinging, delivering a powerful set that immediately had the Toronto crowd moving.
Dave Mustaine sounded fantastic, his unmistakable vocals cutting through the arena as he led the band through a set packed with Megadeth classics. The chemistry between Mustaine, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, bassist James LoMenzo and drummer Dirk Verbeuren was on full display as the band delivered a tight and aggressive performance.
The set opened with “Tipping Point” before moving into “Hangar 18,” “Angry Again” and “Sweating Bullets.” The band kept the intensity high with “Let There Be Shred” and the fan-favourite “Tornado of Souls.”
By the time “Symphony of Destruction” and “Peace Sells” arrived, the Toronto crowd was singing along loudly.
Megadeth returned for an encore and closed their performance with the thrash metal classic “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due.”

IRON MAIDEN TAKES THE STAGE
After Megadeth’s thrash metal assault, the anticipation inside Scotiabank Arena reached another level.
Then came Iron Maiden.
The band opened with “Murders in the Rue Morgue,” immediately taking fans back to their early years.
“Wrathchild,” “Killers” and “Phantom of the Opera” followed, creating an explosive opening stretch that showcased the raw energy of Maiden’s classic era.
When “The Number of the Beast” arrived, the entire arena erupted.
And then came one of the evening’s biggest surprises: “Infinite Dreams,” which had not been performed by Iron Maiden on Canadian soil in 38 years.
But the set was far from built around one song. This was a full-blown celebration of Maiden’s incredible catalogue.
CLASSIC AFTER CLASSIC
The band continued with “Powerslave,” “2 Minutes to Midnight” and the epic “Rime of the Ancient Mariner.”
The energy inside the arena remained relentless as “Run to the Hills” and “Seventh Son of a Seventh Son” followed.
Bruce Dickinson was in command throughout the performance, backed by Iron Maiden’s legendary three-guitar attack of Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers.
Bassist Steve Harris and drummer Simon Dawson provided the thunderous rhythm section that drove the band through the night’s massive set.
Then came “The Trooper” and “Hallowed Be Thy Name,” two songs that once again demonstrated why Iron Maiden remain one of the most important live bands in heavy metal.
A HUGE ENCORE
Just when it seemed the night couldn’t get any bigger, Maiden returned for an explosive three-song encore.
“Aces High” kicked things off before the arena erupted for “Fear of the Dark.”
The band closed the night with “Wasted Years,” giving the Toronto crowd one final massive singalong.

EDDIE’S DIVE BAR KEEPS THE PARTY GOING
The Iron Maiden experience extended beyond Scotiabank Arena, with The Pint transforming into Eddie’s Dive Bar, an official Iron Maiden fan event celebrating the Run For Your Lives World Tour.
The bar gave Maiden fans a place to gather before and after the show, grab a drink, check out official merchandise and keep the heavy metal celebration going.
Fans could enjoy Trooper Progressive Lager from Crew Republic, Eddie’s Blend Darkest Red wine, and the new Trooper Saturn from Godspeed Brewery.
The food menu was also given a proper Maiden makeover, featuring heavy metal-inspired creations including The Number of the Beef Burger, The Fear of the Nachos, The Trooper Wings and Run to the Poutine.
And, of course, no Iron Maiden fan event would be complete without merchandise. Fans had the opportunity to shop for official Iron Maiden merch while surrounded by fellow metalheads celebrating one of the greatest bands in heavy metal history.
TORONTO WAS READY FOR MAIDEN
From the opening notes of Megadeth’s set to the final chorus of “Wasted Years,” August 29 was a night built for metal fans.
Megadeth delivered the thrash, with Dave Mustaine sounding strong and the entire band firing on all cylinders.
Iron Maiden delivered the spectacle, history and anthems.
And with Eddie’s Dive Bar giving fans another place to celebrate, the Maiden takeover of Toronto went far beyond the walls of Scotiabank Arena.
Together, the two legendary bands turned August 29 into one giant celebration of heavy metal.
For the fans who packed the arena, it was a night of soaring vocals, crushing guitars, massive singalongs and songs that have been part of their lives for decades.
And for those fans wanting more, the metal isn’t over just yet.
Iron Maiden and Megadeth are set to return to Scotiabank Arena on August 30 for the second consecutive night of their Toronto run.
