Trivium – Struck Dead EP

There are bands that define an era, and Trivium is certainly one of them. Formed in Orlando, Florida, in the early 2000s, they’ve built a legacy by blending technical precision, melody, and sheer emotional intensity — a sound that bridges the old-school roots of thrash and metalcore with something unmistakably their own. Over the years, they’ve evolved without losing that pulse that first drew us in, constantly challenging themselves and their audience.

Earlier this year, I had the privilege of seeing and photographing Trivium live in Toronto at The Great Canadian Casino. That night was already unforgettable — pure energy, musicianship, and connection. I remember leaving the venue thinking: when will we hear new songs from them again?

And here I am, with the incredible satisfaction of listening to their newest release, Struck Dead, through Roadrunner Records — a short but striking EP that reminds us exactly why Trivium continues to matter so much in today’s metal scene.

From the first song they lead us through a powerful journey. These three tracks — Bury Me With My Screams, Struck Dead (Pain Is Easy to Remember), and Six Walls Around Me — hit deep, both musically and emotionally. The riffs are sharp, the drums thunder with precision, and Matt Heafy’s vocals alternate between pain, fury, and melody in a way that flows easily through our ears.

Each song carries that signature Trivium balance: technical mastery with genuine emotion. You can hear the care in every detail — the production, the structure, the atmosphere — everything feels deliberate, crafted, and yet completely alive.

I recommend sitting down and listening to Struck Dead without any interruptions. Let it unfold, let it take you. There’s something in the weight of these songs that stays with you long after the last note fades.

Powerful, meaningful, and perfectly executed — Trivium never disappoints.

And tomorrow, on Halloween night, Struck Dead officially arrives to haunt and thrill us all.
