Resurrect the Rot: Hedonist, Necrot, Brujeria & Carcass Rip Through The Phoenix

Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Hall was ground zero for an insane night of chaos, grind, and death metal mastery. Hedonist, Necrot, Brujeria, and Carcass came together for a bill that spanned decades of extremity and every shade of brutality. From raw underground aggression to legendary precision, the night hit like an absolute freight train.

Hedonist

In my opinion, Hedonist is so underrated; it’s honestly unreal. They opened with sheer force, immediately dragging the crowd into their cavernous sound. Their set tore through the venue and set the bar high for the sets to follow. Female fronted Canadian Death Metal for the fucking win! They showed off their balance of crushing riffs and unrelenting momentum which left me in awe.

Necrot

Necrot’s arrival turned the pit into a frenzy as usual. The Oakland trio proved why their brand of death metal is both filthy and addictive. Heads banging in unison, while the pit emerged in pure violence. Every note felt like a sledgehammer, making their groove-driven brutality one of the night’s highlights.

Brujeria’s set was nothing short of chaotic theater — raw energy, biting political fury, and unrelenting grindcore. They raged through their set dropping fan favourites that had the crowd demanding more. Brujeria left the stage in a haze of fury and chants from their die hard fans, the audience was feeding off their infamous chaos.
