Of Mice & Men on ‘Another Miracle’: Fatherhood, Music, and Epic Evolution

2 min read

With Another Miracle dropping November 14, Of Mice & Men are back with a record that is as emotionally resonant as it is sonically adventurous. I recently sat down with drummer Tino and vocalist/bassist Aaron to dive into the stories, inspirations, and processes behind the album.

Aaron opened up about one of the most personal songs on the record, “Safe and Sound”:

“I wrote it when I found out I was going to be a dad. That song is about my little girl making her way to us, and she’s here now. She’ll be five months old in a week, because time just flies. That one is pretty special to me.”

The album also sees the band venturing into new musical territory. Tino shared his excitement about experimenting with orchestral and symphonic influences:

“We tried something new in a side of metal that we haven’t really gone down. In my head it was like, what haven’t we done yet? We’ve never really had a Dimmu Borgir or Cradle of Filth style, super epic, orchestral, so maybe we should try it.”

Beyond experimenting with sound, Tino emphasized the collaborative nature of the band:

“It’s the collaborative process that allows us to elevate not only the performances but the songwriting and content. It’s what happens in our lives that we are able to put into song. We put our lives into the songs, and that is what makes it better each time.”

Aaron echoed this sentiment, adding a listener-focused perspective:

“To me, the importance isn’t in us. It’s in people hearing their stories when they hear our stories. I would hope we can almost disappear into the music so that when people listen, they just feel connection and understood. It’s not at all about us as the people who were lucky enough to make the music for them.”

Another Miracle is a testament to Of Mice & Men’s growth, balancing raw emotional depth with bold experimentation. From fatherhood to orchestral black-metal flourishes, the album proves the band is not afraid to push boundaries while keeping the listener at the heart of the experience.
