Finnish symphonic metal giants Nightwish have announced that they are parting ways with longtime vocalist Floor Jansen after more than a decade together.

The band shared the news on its official Instagram account, revealing that the decision was made by mutual agreement and that both Nightwish and Jansen will now pursue their future artistic ambitions separately.

“After careful consideration, we have, in mutual agreement, decided to part ways,” Nightwish stated.

The band described the split as the end of a significant chapter in its history and expressed its gratitude and best wishes to Jansen for the future.

“For you, dear listener, and indeed for us, this marks the end of a truly great voyage.”

Despite Jansen’s departure, Nightwish made it clear that the band is not coming to an end. The group revealed that it plans to enter the studio in 2027 to begin recording a new album.

“Nightwish will continue. We will move forward and enter the studio in 2027 to record a new album.”

Floor Jansen’s Nightwish Journey

Jansen first performed with Nightwish in 2012 when she stepped in as the band’s touring vocalist. Her powerful voice quickly became a major part of the group’s live sound, and in 2013 she officially became a member of Nightwish.

During her time with the band, Jansen recorded three studio albums: 2015’s “Endless Forms Most Beautiful,” 2020’s “Human. :II: Nature.” and 2024’s “Yesterwynde.”

Her tenure saw Nightwish continue to evolve its distinctive blend of symphonic arrangements, heavy metal and cinematic songwriting, while Jansen became one of the most recognizable voices in modern symphonic metal.

The announcement comes as Nightwish celebrates its 30th anniversary, making the news particularly significant for longtime fans who have followed the band through its many eras and lineup changes.

At this time, Nightwish has not announced a replacement vocalist or revealed further details about what led to the decision to part ways.

One thing, however, is clear: the Floor Jansen era of Nightwish has come to an end, but the band’s journey continues.
