JINJER IN TORONTO: ALWAYS A BLAST OF INSANITY, TECHNICALITY, AND HYPNOTIC ENERGY

Jinjer — Toronto, Danforth Music Hall

The night started with Entheos, an American progressive/death metal band from California. For me, it was one of those genuinely good surprises. Not just because of the sound — technical, heavy, layered — but because of who they are. They’re genuinely kind people.
Chaney Crabb, live, breaks expectations. Sweet off stage, intense when she performs. Strong voice, clean when needed, aggressive when it calls for it. First time seeing them, and it definitely stayed with me.

Then Jinjer came in. They’re from Ukraine and carry a very distinct identity within modern metal — technical, heavy, and full of personality.

From the very first moment, Tatiana Shmayluk was a silver siren . She doesn’t just walked on stage… she came looking directly through your souls. The way she moves, the way she looks at the crowd — it pulls you in.There’s a presence there that you can’t ignore.
The connection with the audience is constant. It doesn’t feel forced or overly rehearsed — it feels real. Intense in a natural way.

What stands out the most, even already knowing her reputation, is seeing it live. The transition between clean vocals and growls happens effortlessly. No hesitation. No cracks. It’s technical, but also deeply visceral.
And it’s not just her.
The band as a whole works like a perfectly tuned machine.Precise. Cohesive. No excess. Everything exactly where it should be.
This was my first time seeing them live in Toronto. But it’s easy to understand why every time they come back, people want more. When it ends, it doesn’t feel like enough.
And maybe that’s the point.
