From the Underground (Ep. 2): The Divine Project Are Building Something Real
There’s no shortage of bands grinding behind the scenes, doing everything right but still waiting to be seen.
That’s exactly what From the Underground was built for. Highlighting artists who are putting in the work, building something real, and deserve that spotlight.
Episode 2 puts that focus on The Divine Project, a Toronto-based band delivering a raw, cinematic blend of hard rock and metal that is both intense and emotive.

The band is made up of Eric Divine, the founder and guitarist, Rø Stevens on lead vocals, Mitch Greenham on drums, David T. Anselmo on guitar, and Derek “DRock” Boshkov on bass. Or as they put it themselves: the Founder, the Voice, the Engine, the Wings, and the Muscle.
Speaking with the full lineup, one thing is immediately clear. This isn’t a group trying to fit into a specific sound.
“We just kind of go with the flow and write what we feel is right. We don’t set ourselves up to just play one particular sound.”
That freedom shows in their music. Tracks like Don’t Startle the Murderer highlight their ability to shift between styles, blending heavy breakdowns, melody, and unexpected elements into something that keeps listeners on their toes. Meanwhile, The Longest Night stands out as a band favorite, showing a more cohesive side of their evolving sound.

What makes their story even more interesting is how the band came together.
From answering old online ads to reconnecting through forgotten BandMix accounts, and even being recruited because of a lime green bass, the lineup formed in a way that feels just as organic as their sound.
Over the past year, that chemistry has turned into momentum.
With nearly ten shows under their belt and a growing presence in the Toronto scene, the band is already building a name for themselves, but they are far from slowing down.

On stage, The Divine Project are not focused on perfection. They are focused on energy.
“I used to think everything had to be perfect… but now it’s just better to have fun with it. The more fun we have, the more fun the crowd has.”
That mindset has become a defining part of their live shows. High energy, interactive, and built around creating a moment with the crowd rather than recreating a recording.
It is something the band takes seriously.
“At the end of the day, we’re there for everyone showing up. It’s a party. It’s a riot.”

Behind the scenes, The Divine Project are doing everything themselves.
From writing and recording to mixing, visuals, and booking shows, every part of what people see is built in-house.
“I think that’s the one thing people should know… everything you see is done by us.”
That level of involvement makes their growth even more impressive. This isn’t a band being handed opportunities. It’s one creating them.
Looking ahead, their focus is clear.
The next step is getting beyond Toronto and taking what they’ve built to a wider audience across Canada and beyond.
If there’s one thing this episode makes obvious, it’s that The Divine Project are ready for bigger stages. For promoters, venues, and bands looking for a high-energy act, this is one to keep on your radar.
“We’re here to stay.”
