Black Label Society — Old Roots. Modern Fire. One Sold-Out Night in Toronto

Yesterday felt surreal.

A couple of days ago, Zakk Wylde gave an interview for This Day In Metal, talking about the new album and everything around this moment. From then on, the anticipation for the Toronto show at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre just kept building.
By the time the doors opened, you could already feel it—this wasn’t going to be absolutely insane and would stick to your brain for decades.
The place was packed. Not just full, but alive. People singing along, hands in the air, completely locked into every note. That kind of energy you don’t fake—it just happens when the right music meets the right crowd.

Dark Chapel kicked things off and set the tone, warming up the room without holding back. Then Zakk Sabbath came in heavy, leaning into those deep, classic roots with a sound that hits straight to the core.

When Black Label Society took the stage, everything shifted.

No overthinking, no filler—just straight-up rock ’n’ roll. Loud, gritty, and unapologetic. The riffs hit hard, the solos stretched out like they had something to prove, and the crowd answered every second of it. It felt raw in the best way—slightly chaotic, fully alive, and impossible not to get pulled into.

One of the most striking moments of the night came through the setlist itself. Hearing Name in Blood live gave that extra spark of something new in the middle of so many anthems. Ozzy’s Song carried a different kind of weight, a clear and heartfelt tribute to Ozzy Osbourne that the crowd felt instantly. When Suicide Messiah hit, it was pure fire—a reminder of why it remains a staple. And then came In This River… slowed down, intimate, with Zakk on the piano on stage. That moment shifted everything—emotional, powerful, and completely unforgettable.

This wasn’t about nostalgia or trying to recreate something. It was about living it, right there in the moment—loud enough to shake you, real enough to stay with you long after the lights came on.If you were there, you know. If you weren’t—this was the setlist. Go listen, turn it up, and feel a piece of what that night was like.
