Benediction Announce Dave Ingram’s Departure Due to Health Issues
Veteran UK death metal legends Benediction have released an emotional statement confirming that longtime vocalist Dave Ingram will be stepping down from the band due to ongoing health complications caused by arthritis.
In a heartfelt message shared with fans, Ingram explained that the worsening condition and increasing pain have made it impossible for him to continue performing full-time with the band.
“Some sad news ahead. Due to the current state of my arthritis now, I have to withdraw as vocalist for Benediction. The increase in pain, and the frustration it causes from its debilitation, has led me to this disconsolate decision.”
Despite stepping away from the role, Ingram confirmed that he still plans to perform select shows throughout 2026 in order to personally thank fans and say farewell on stage.
“I will be performing select shows with the band during 2026 as I would like a chance to say farewell and thank you to the fans who have supported us throughout the years.”
The band noted that details regarding which shows Ingram will appear at will be announced closer to each date, as his health condition will ultimately determine his availability.
Benediction also made it clear that they have no intention of canceling upcoming shows and have already recruited trusted friends to help fill the vocalist position for upcoming performances.
Returning first is Oscar Rilo, who will handle vocal duties for the band’s Germany shows on May 15 and 16. Rilo previously impressed both fans and critics during recent Benediction appearances in Madrid, Valencia, and Barcelona, earning widespread praise for his performances.
Meanwhile, former Benediction frontman Dave Hunt will also return to the stage for appearances at Iron Fest and Mystic Festival — marking his first performances with the band since being replaced by Ingram in 2019.
The band also teased potential upcoming news regarding performances in Latin and South America, encouraging fans to stay tuned in the coming weeks.
In closing, Benediction thanked fans for their continued support during what they described as a difficult period for the band while rallying support behind both Oscar Rilo and Dave Hunt as they help carry the torch forward.
